Study worth looking at this week…Eating one egg a week might help protect your brain.


Researchers followed over 1,000 adults (average age: 81) for nearly 7 years. They found that those who ate at least one egg per week had a 47% lower risk of developing Alzheimer’s compared to those who rarely ate eggs. And when they studied the brains of those who passed, they found less of the damaging proteins typically associated with the disease in regular egg-eaters.


Why might this be? Eggs are rich in choline and omega-3s, two nutrients known for their powerful brain-protective effects. The study suggests these two may work together to support cognitive health as we age.


It’s not a perfect study—people self-reported their eating habits, and it was done in one specific age group—but the takeaway is encouraging: small changes can make a big difference over time.

I personally go for 2-4 eggs a day and no, I don’t worry about how that impacts cholesterol one bit. But, that is an email for another time.
