Coffee, College, Lice, Mold, and Chaos Filled Gratitude

Hi Friends,

Last weekend my middle daughter and I wandered through tiny coastal college towns, big university campuses, used bookstores, and coffee shops across New England.

This trip was her Christmas gift: an unlimited used books and Marshalls clothing budget. It had already been postponed twice thanks to our snowy winter, so when we finally made it happen it felt like such a gift.

We lingered.

We dreamed.

We ate wonderful food.

We imagined what it might be like to live in places like Mystic, Connecticut… Newport, Rhode Island… or Boston.

We bought far too many books (although honestly, I’m not convinced that’s possible).

And we ranked schools based on two very important categories:

Libraries we could happily live inWater views from campus

Current winners:

🏆 Best Library: Boston College

🌊 Best Water Views: Roger Williams

It was one of those weekends where time slows down just enough for you to notice how sweet life really is.

Then we drove home.

On the way back the car started acting up, and by the time we walked through the front door—hearts full, excited to see the rest of the family (and the pups), but a little sad the trip was over—our happy bubble burst.

The last 32 hours have been one thing after another.

• A house that looks like a mold remediation war zone

Lice (first time ever 😩)

• Ridiculous car issues

• Bathroom plumbing problems

At this point I’m just waiting for the locusts.

But God.

He is so faithful and patient with me when my instinct is to panic, cry, or feel completely overwhelmed. In moments like these He gently reminds me how closely joy and difficulty can sit together in the same life.

Happy and sad.

Chaos and calm.

Excitement and dread.

They can all exist at the same time.

So instead of spiraling into fear about how everything will work out, I come back to gratitude.

The smell of a used bookstore.

Our puppy with paws still too big for his body.

Laughing with my husband while combing through hair looking for bugs.

A laundromat that’s open all night.

And a car that—at least for now—can still take our family places where we make memories.

There is so much more to be thankful for than there is to worry about.

God has a plan.

For Georgia and her college dreams.

For me as I keep speaking, podcasting, and providing for my family.

And for you too—even when the plans you made seem to fall apart.

If life feels chaotic right now on your end too… remember this:

Even when everything feels like it’s falling apart, God is still writing a very good story.

Ancient Nutrition Whey Protein + Collagen is on special right now.

• 5g daily• 10–20g on days you're exhausted, traveling, or jet-lagged• growing research shows potential cognitive protection benefits

2. GLP-1s May Help Protect Brain Health

A new meta-analysis of 18 randomized controlled trials involving over 11,000 adults with type 2 diabetes found that GLP-1 receptor agonists may do more than improve metabolic health—they may also support brain health and cognitive function.

Participants showed clinically meaningful improvements in cognitive testing within about 24 weeks, suggesting these medications may help reduce the risk of cognitive decline in a population already at higher risk.

If you’re curious whether GLP-1s might be right for you, you can talk to a doctor at Vivoro.
