Heres the Real Story

I’m not the same person I was a year ago.

2025 changed me.

Or maybe the truest way to say it is this: God refined me.

As I step into 2026, I’ve been reflecting on what this past year held—and what I’m carrying forward with me. I pray this helps you do the same….

Imposter syndrome hit hard as I stepped onto bigger stages. But when God calls you to something, He shows up in it. Live speaking brought more face-to-face moments—the tears, the hugs, the prayers. Those blessed exchanges remind me why this calling matters and why obedience is always worth it.

I left a comfortable career and steady paycheck at QVC to follow purpose. That decision required equal parts fear and faith. There is a cost to a calling—but listening to the Lord always pays off. God provided, just as He promised, and continues to do so in ways I could never have created on my own. Now, when I show up on television, it’s only with a message fully aligned with who I am and who God has called me to be.

Podcasting became my graduate school.Through StRest, I learned more than I ever expected—about health, faith, people, and myself. Real conversations. Real vulnerability. Real healing. Real faith.

Friendships came and went. Relationships in midlife are tender things—harder to build and harder to hold. Some days I still feel like the awkward middle schooler wondering where I fit. But isolation is never from the Lord. The people meant to walk with you will keep showing up. And sometimes, we’re called to be the ones who keep reaching, serving, and staying open—even when vulnerability feels terrifying.

Creativity multiplied when I said yes to new things.Shooting a national commercial for the first time in over a decade. Writing another book. Growth doesn’t happen by staying safe or repeating what’s familiar. It happens when God leads—and you accept His courage.

Greece and Montana changed me. No lesson. Just awe. Sometimes the takeaway is simply wonder. Take the trip.

Parenting grew deeper and harder all at once.I don’t have babies anymore, but the challenge—and the love—have intensified. Even as I wrestle with being a good mom, my love for my kids continues to expand beyond what I thought possible. God is always bigger than the hard seasons.

Perimenopause arrived—no joke—but it also became a gift. With the right tools, it brought creativity, empathy, courage, and clarity. It forced me to listen more closely to my body and my soul—and it’s something I’m passionate about helping other women navigate well.

We unexpectedly bought a little boathouse this year.Even when we didn’t feel ready. Even while building a business. Even when it felt scary. We prayed. We trusted. We chose joy.

And yes—we adopted a puppy. Because the timing is never perfect. Life is short. And love can grow in chaos.

And my number one lesson of 2025:Closed doors are reasons to celebrate. They aren’t losses—they’re direction. God narrowing your focus for something greater than you can see in the moment.

This year refined me.

I’m walking lighter.

More trusting.

More rooted in Him.

And ready—for grace-filled expansion in 2026.

Now, what about you?

Spend time writing down your big takeaways and lessons. Ask God to show you the growth in the good and the bad. Next week we will work on creating your vision statement for 2026. For now tell God how grateful you are for this last year and pray over your attitude moving into the next.
